Our complete Health and Safety system

Our comprehensive Health & Safety system places safety training, competency, and continuous improvement at the cornerstone of our operational performance.

Key features of our H&S system include:

• Industry membership and engagement: Camelspace is a member of SARNZ and Site Safe and participates in reviews of relevant standards as they arise, supporting continuous improvement and promoting safer practices across the industry.

• Qualified supervision: All work crews and teams within the scaffolding division are led by personnel who hold the appropriate Scaffolding Certificates of Competence and National Certificates in Scaffolding.

• H&S representatives: Camelspace has trained H&S Representatives who provide support to our staff and help ensure all personnel understand and comply with our H&S policies and procedures.

• Training and competency: All field staff have completed Building Construction Passport Training through Site Safe and Working at Heights training to Level 3, including NZQA Units 23229 and 15757.

• Site Specific Safety Plans: A Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) is prepared for every project to identify and manage project-specific health and safety requirements.

• Emergency preparedness: Emergency plan procedures are prepared and documented each day to ensure the team is prepared to respond effectively to potential incidents or emergencies.

• Daily hazard identification and communication: A Hazard ID, Task Analysis and Toolbox Talk are completed and documented each day before work commences. These are reviewed and repeated whenever a new stage of work begins or a new team member joins the project. All team members actively participate in this ongoing process.

• Critical Risk Audits: Regular Critical Risk Audits are undertaken to verify that critical risks are being effectively identified, controlled and managed in the field. These audits provide an additional layer of assurance that our safety systems and controls are being consistently implemented and maintained.

• Qualifications and competency records: Camelspace maintains a comprehensive Qualifications Register detailing employee qualifications, site inductions, and relevant expiry dates, enabling training and competency requirements to be monitored and maintained.
