Mike Yazdani Nea
Yard Supervisor, AKL
Running the day-to-day operations of the Auckland yard keeps Mike busy, so busy he runs his team in two shifts – a morning one to ensure the equipment is ready to go out to tens of jobs every day efficiently and accurately, and a later one to pack in the day’s returns and prep for the next.
He is responsible for allocating, organising and maintaining all the scaffolding equipment; a 25-strong vehicle fleet and any other resources necessary for the teams to do their jobs out on site. He conducts thorough inventory and stocktakes in advance of big projects to ensure there is enough equipment available and, if not, sources it to cover any shortfall.
Logistical planning, attention to detail and a high level of organisation are critical to ensuring gear stays in good working order and is where it needs to be so that projects run efficiently and to schedule.
Mike joined Camelspace six years ago as yardman, before being promoted to Yard Supervisor. Of Iranian and Filipino descent, Mike has travelled and lived a number of places across the world. He went to college in the Philippines, spent a couple of years living and working in China and Macau before opening his own restaurant in the Philippines, and finally moving to New Zealand with his wife.
