Matt Walters

Scaffold Auditor / Branch H&S Officer, WLG

In a region renowned for its wild and windy weather, Matt’s role as Scaffold Auditor and Health and Safety Officer for the Wellington brand is a busy one. He’s responsible for ensuring all health and safety requirements and compliance protocols are in place before each job begins and continue throughout. He works closely with the Group Health & Safety Manager to train and educate the Wellington team about keeping themselves safe on the job. Having suffered a serious injury himself in a previous role, he takes great satisfaction from getting the Camelspace team working safer and equipping them to make decisions that ensure their safety day-to-day.

Matt spends a lot of time out on sites, completing weekly inspections on every job, making sure the guys are safe, the scaffold is compliant, and checking if anything has deviated from the plan. “Every time a storm rips through the capital, every scaffold needs to be checked as the loads resulting from those forces of nature, especially if it is wrapped, can be significant and unpredictable and safety is paramount.”
