John Abraham

Yard Supervisor, CHC

John looks after the equipment, it’s maintenance and all other logistics related to the day-to-day running of the Christchurch yard, including the upkeep of vehicles and forklifts.

It’s a sole charge role and John enjoys putting systems in place and instigating efficiency initiatives to keep everything operating smoothly and productively. He allocates equipment, vehicles and other resources daily for each job the Christchurch branch undertakes and ensures teams have what they need where they need it. He takes pride in having a tidy yard and his priority is making everyone’s jobs and lives at work a little easier by being organised.

Part of the Camelspace team since 2015, John was previously Yard Manager for another scaffolding business and ran a team of between four and eight people, depending on the season. He spent seven years as a security officer for the courts, before moving to a stint doing drainage work as part of the Canterbury earthquake reconstruction. Earlier in his career, he worked with an events and marquee hire company for 10 years in the role of Operations Manager.

John played rugby for a long time and now coaches the Canterbury under-21 rep team, which he loves. He’s also quite the trivia buff – a good man to have on the pub quiz team!
