Eugene Fourie

Operations Manager, WLG

Eugene likes getting stuff done. He’s responsible for planning all jobs for the Wellington branch, allocating crews and trucks, planning driving routes and ensuring each job has the right resource. He keeps project schedules and budgeted hours on track so there are no surprises for clients or the company, and even drafts himself in to work on the tools when demand is high.

With broad experience in a range of roles, Eugene has worked in heavy industry for over 10 years, his scaffolding skills being well utilised while working as a pumpman in the oil and gas industry in South Africa. As well as operating the large industrial pumps, the crews installed and dismantled their own scaffolding rigs to carry-out maintenance on the offshore vessels. He worked for a steel erection company for three years with responsibilities including safety officer, site foreman, steel erector, crane operator, fitter/boilermaker and rigging. Early in his career, he spent two years in the United Kingdom working as rigger and site lead on large engineering and infrastructure projects. Eugene moved to New Zealand in 2015 and was a supervisor with another scaffolding business before joining the Camelspace team.

A keen fisherman and free-diver, even the chilly waters around Wellington are not enough to keep him out of the sea. He’s also a keen rugby fan, albeit a somewhat unusual one – born in South Africa, lives in New Zealand and yet he supports Australia!
